How to connect Etsy

Etsy sends webhooks to apps registered on its developer portal, so you need an Etsy developer app connected to your shop. See Etsy’s webhook docs.

Step 1: Create an Integration

  1. Go to your organization’s Integrations page.
  2. Click Add Integration and select Etsy.
  3. You’ll receive a unique Webhook URL. Copy it.

Step 2: Add the Webhook in Etsy

  1. On the Etsy developer portal, open Manage your apps.
  2. Open the menu for your app and choose Go to Webhook portal.
  3. Click Add Endpoint, paste your Hookfire webhook URL and pick the events, for example order.paid and inventory.out_of_stock.
  4. Click Create.

Step 3: Signing Secret

  1. Open the endpoint’s details in the Webhook portal and copy its Signing Secret (it starts with whsec_).
  2. Paste it into the Signing Secret field on your Hookfire integration page.

Etsy signs each delivery with the Standard Webhooks headers (webhook-id, webhook-timestamp, webhook-signature), and Hookfire refuses anything that does not match or is more than five minutes old.

Step 4: Subscribe to Events

On your Hookfire integration page, toggle on the events you want to receive push notifications for.

Etsy’s webhooks say what happened but not to whom: there is no buyer, item or amount in them. Tapping an order notification opens your sold orders on Etsy.

Step 5: Test

Use the Testing tab in the Webhook portal, or click Test next to an event on your Hookfire integration page.

Supported Events

Event Description
order.paid A buyer paid for an order
order.canceled An order was canceled
order.shipped An order was marked as shipped
order.delivered An order was delivered
