Indeed, I think this is definitely an improvement over the previous version.

How to connect Linear

Step 1: Create an Integration

  1. Go to your organization’s Integrations page.
  2. Click Add Integration and select Linear.
  3. You’ll receive a unique Webhook URL. Copy it.

Step 2: Add the Webhook in Linear

You need to be a workspace admin.

  1. In Linear, open Settings → API (linear.app/settings/api).
  2. Click New webhook.
  3. Give it a label (e.g., “Hookfire”) and paste your Hookfire webhook URL.
  4. Choose one team or all public teams.
  5. Under the data change events, tick Issues, Comments and Project updates, and Issue SLA if you use SLAs.
  6. Save the webhook.

Step 3: Copy the Signing Secret

  1. Open the webhook you just created. Its detail page shows the signing secret.
  2. Copy it and paste it into the Signing Secret field on your Hookfire integration page.
  3. Linear signs every delivery with HMAC-SHA256 in the Linear-Signature header, and Hookfire verifies it automatically. It also checks the delivery’s timestamp, so a captured request cannot be replayed later.

Step 4: Subscribe to Events

On your Hookfire integration page, toggle on the events you want to receive push notifications for.

Issue updated fires on every edit to an issue, from a status change to a typo fix. On Max you can add a payload rule to keep only the changes you care about: for example updatedFrom.stateId is present keeps status changes only, and updatedFrom.assigneeId is present keeps reassignments only.

Step 5: Test

Click the Test button next to an event on your integration page, or create an issue in a team the webhook covers.

Supported Events

Event Description
Issue.create An issue was created
Issue.update An issue was changed (status, assignee, priority, title…)
Comment.create Someone commented on an issue
IssueSLA.highRisk An issue is about to breach its SLA
IssueSLA.breached An issue breached its SLA
ProjectUpdate.create A project update was posted
