How to connect SendGrid

Step 1: Create an Integration

  1. Go to your organization’s Integrations page.
  2. Click Add Integration and select SendGrid.
  3. You’ll receive a unique Webhook URL. Copy it.

Step 2: Add the Event Webhook in SendGrid

  1. In SendGrid, go to Settings → Mail Settings and open Event Webhooks under Webhook Settings.
  2. Click Create new webhook and paste your Hookfire webhook URL as the Post URL.
  3. Under Actions to be posted, tick only what you want on your phone, for example Bounced, Dropped, Spam Reports and Unsubscribes. SendGrid posts every ticked action, and Delivered or Opened can mean thousands of events a day.
  4. Under Security features, turn on Signed Event Webhook and save.

See SendGrid’s Event Webhook docs.

Step 3: Verification Key

  1. Open the webhook again (cog → Edit) and copy the Verification Key shown under the signed webhook setting. It is a public key, not a password.
  2. Paste it into the Signing Secret field on your Hookfire integration page.

SendGrid signs each batch with an ECDSA signature in the X-Twilio-Email-Event-Webhook-Signature header, and Hookfire refuses anything that does not verify against that key.

Step 4: Subscribe to Events

On your Hookfire integration page, toggle on the events you want to receive push notifications for.

SendGrid sends events in batches. Hookfire splits each batch and notifies you only about the events you switched on, up to 100 per batch.

Step 5: Test

Click Test Your Integration on the webhook in SendGrid after saving it, or click Test next to an event on your Hookfire integration page.
