How to connect Webflow

Webhooks added in the Webflow dashboard are not signed. Webhooks created through Webflow’s API are, so this guide uses the API: it takes one request. See Webflow’s webhook docs.

Step 1: Create an Integration

  1. Go to your organization’s Integrations page.
  2. Click Add Integration and select Webflow.
  3. You’ll receive a unique Webhook URL. Copy it.

Step 2: Get a Site Token

  1. In Webflow, open your site’s Site settings → Apps & integrations → API access.
  2. Click Generate API token. It needs sites:write to create webhooks, plus the scope each trigger reads: forms:read for forms, ecommerce:read for orders, comments:read for comments and sites:read for publishes.
  3. Copy the token. Your Site ID is under Site settings → Overview.

Step 3: Create the Webhook

Run this once for each trigger you want (form_submission, ecomm_new_order, ecomm_order_changed, comment_created, site_publish):

curl -X POST https://api.webflow.com/v2/sites/YOUR_SITE_ID/webhooks \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_SITE_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"triggerType": "form_submission", "url": "YOUR_HOOKFIRE_WEBHOOK_URL"}'

The response contains a secretKey.

Step 4: Signing Secret

Paste the secretKey into the Signing Secret field on your Hookfire integration page. Webflow signs each delivery with the x-webflow-signature and x-webflow-timestamp headers, and Hookfire refuses anything that does not match or is more than five minutes old.

Each webhook made with a site token has its own secretKey, while one Hookfire integration holds one secret. If you want several triggers, create a Hookfire integration for each, or leave the secret empty to accept deliveries without checking them.

Step 5: Subscribe to Events

On your Hookfire integration page, toggle on the events you want to receive push notifications for. A form submission shows the fields the visitor filled in.

Step 6: Test

Submit one of your forms, or click Test next to an event on your Hookfire integration page.

form_submission A visitor submitted a form
ecomm_new_order A new order was placed
