How to connect HubSpot

HubSpot sends webhooks from an app in your account. A legacy private app is the quickest way to get one: it only needs a super admin, and nothing has to be published. See HubSpot’s guide to webhooks in private apps.

Step 1: Create an Integration

  1. Go to your organization’s Integrations page.
  2. Click Add Integration and select HubSpot.
  3. You’ll receive a unique Webhook URL. Copy it.

Step 2: Add the Webhook in HubSpot

  1. In HubSpot, go to Development → Legacy apps and create a private app. Give it the read scopes for the objects you want to hear about (for example contacts, deals and tickets).
  2. Open the app’s Webhooks tab and click Edit webhooks.
  3. Paste your Hookfire webhook URL as the Target URL.
  4. Click Create subscription, pick the object type and the events (for example contact created, deal created, deal property changed on dealstage), and click Subscribe.
  5. Click Commit changes.

Step 3: Signing Secret

  1. Open the app’s Auth tab and click Show secret next to the client secret.
  2. Paste it into the Signing Secret field on your Hookfire integration page.

HubSpot signs each delivery with X-HubSpot-Signature-v3, which covers the URL, the body and a timestamp. Hookfire refuses anything that does not match or is more than five minutes old.

Workflow “Send a webhook” actions are signed differently and are not supported here. Use a webhook subscription on an app instead.

Step 4: Subscribe to Events

On your Hookfire integration page, toggle on the events you want to receive push notifications for.

HubSpot’s webhooks carry record ids, not names or amounts, so the notification tells you what happened and tapping it opens the record in HubSpot. HubSpot sends up to 100 events in one request; Hookfire splits them and notifies you only about the events you switched on.

Step 5: Test

Use the Test button on the subscription in HubSpot, or click Test next to an event on your Hookfire integration page.
