How to connect Intercom

Connecting Intercom to Hookfire

Step 1: Create an Integration

  1. Go to your organization’s Integrations page.
  2. Click Add Integration and select Intercom.
  3. You’ll receive a unique Webhook URL — copy it.

Step 2: Create an Intercom App

  1. Go to the Intercom Developer Hub.
  2. Create a new app or select an existing one.
  3. Navigate to Webhooks in the app settings.
  4. Paste your Hookfire webhook URL into the Webhook URL field.
  5. Select the topics you want to receive:
    • conversation.user.created
    • conversation.user.replied
    • conversation.admin.replied
    • conversation.admin.closed
    • contact.created
    • user.created
  6. Click Save.

Step 3: Copy the Signing Secret

  1. In your Intercom app settings, go to Basic Information.
  2. Copy the Client Secret.
  3. Go back to your Hookfire integration page and paste it into the Signing Secret field.
  4. Intercom signs payloads with HMAC-SHA1 — Hookfire will verify each delivery automatically.

Step 4: Subscribe to Events

On your Hookfire integration page, toggle on the events you want to receive push notifications for.

Step 5: Test

Click the Test button on your integration page, or start a conversation in Intercom to trigger a real event.
